Urijah Faber: The Younger Years

Urijah Faber  has really always been The Califorian Kid as he is so well known. Urijah was born on May 14 th 1979 in Isla Vista California. His parents are Theo and Suzanne Urijah Faber. He grew up in Lincoln and went to Glen Edwards Middle school and Lincoln High School neat Scaramento California. He has two other siblings, an older brother named Ryan and younger sister named Michaella. Urijah graduated college from the University of California Davis. He has a degree in human development.

Urijah started his mixed martial arts career with a professional debut as part of the Gladiator Challenge promotion on November 12th 2003 where he defeated Jay Valencia via guillotine choke at one minute 22 seconds of round one. He went on to defeat George Adkins via technical knock  out due to strikes on Feburary 12th 2004, which earned him a shot at Gladitor Challenge  Bantam weight champion, David Velasquez.

Then on June 6th 2004, Urijah Faber next fight took down Velasquez via unanimous decision and then became the Gladiator Challenge Bantam weight champion. For his first title defense on August 19 2004, Urijah took down Del Hawkins by technical knock out via strikes at three minutes 19 seconds on the first round. From then on after this fight, Urijah would begin to fight in both Gladitor Challenge and King of the Cage, who owned Gladitor Challenge.

At his second fight for King of the Cage on September 24 2004, he defeated Rami Boukai by majority decision, just a month after his first fight for the promotion.
